Observation, Observation: What Do You See?
You've had several days to ponder what detectives use to make observations. Maybe you thought of a magnifying glass, a microscope or a telescope. You may have even said eyes. Those are the typical responses of my elementary school friends. Now it is time to stretch your brain and theirs. Let's move beyond the oblivious.
When we observe things we study things carefully. To do this we use more than just our eyes. A good detective uses a group of five things. Eyes are just one of those things. Generally we call it sight, when we put it in the group. Do you know what these five things?
If you said the five senses, you are absolutely correct. A great detective uses sight, sound, touch, smell and taste to solve a mystery. (Remember NEVER, NEVER taste anything that is not food or drink. If you're not sure, check with an adult.)
